In this video you will learn how to start skateboarding:
Here are some tips to help you get started:
- Get a skateboard: The first thing you'll need is a skateboard. You can buy one from a local skate shop or online. Skateboards come in different sizes, so make sure you get one that's right for you. You'll also need grip tape, which goes on top of the skateboard to provide traction.
- Safety gear: You'll want to wear protective gear to prevent injuries. At a minimum, you'll need a helmet, but it's also a good idea to wear elbow and knee pads and wrist guards.
- Find a flat and smooth surface: To get started, you'll want to practice on a flat and smooth surface, like a parking lot or a basketball court. Avoid surfaces with cracks or bumps, as these can cause you to fall.
- Learn to balance: Start by standing on the skateboard and getting a feel for the balance. Practice shifting your weight from your front foot to your back foot.
- Learn to push: Once you feel comfortable standing on the skateboard, practice pushing off with your back foot to get moving. Start slowly and work your way up to faster speeds.
- Practice turning: Turning is an important skill in skateboarding. To turn, shift your weight to the side you want to turn and use your toes to steer the board.
- Join a community: Skateboarding is more fun when you're doing it with others. Look for local skate groups or online forums to connect with other skateboarders in your area.
Remember, skateboarding takes practice and patience. Don't be discouraged if you don't pick it up right away. With time and practice, you'll improve your skills and enjoy the ride!

I hope you have practiced and learned how to push, because today we are going to learn how to stop. The first method of getting off the board is to simply jump forward, use your hands to help with the jump and look directly at the landing zone.
Bend your knees as you land. The second method requires using the heel. Start by practicing balance and keeping the body on the front foot, which is the left foot for regular and the right for goofy. Use your hands to keep your balance. Now, bend your front knee and touch the ground with the heel of your back foot. Put a little pressure on the heel which will result in slowing and stopping the board. Practice before you try speed and take your time. It is quite easy and very useful. Every time you go out skating, you are improving and enjoying yourself. It's all about fun and relaxation.
